In a future where books are banned and destroyed by "firemen" who build blazes rather than extinguish them, one such enforcer, Guy, begins to question his role in an oppressive society. When a teacher opens Guy's eyes to the wonders of literature, he secretly begins to read while his wife obsessively watches a wall-sized TV.
