Small town hellion Stet Cates seems destined for a troubled life of delinquency, but his angelic singing voice sets him apart. When Stet's single mother Debbie passes away in a car crash, his biological father Gerard, whom he has never met, plans to send him into the foster care system without hesitation. But Stet's middle school principal, Ms. Steele, encourages Gerard to send Stet to Master Carvelle's musical boarding school, fashioned after the actual American Boychoir School, the best in the country. But whether loose-cannon Stet can master the discipline required to develop his talent is an open question, especially when Devon, the highest-rated singer in the choir, attempts to sabotage his new rival every step of the way. Friend and fellow student Wooly is Stet's lone ally at the school who encourages Stet to stand up for his singing, himself, and let his voice be heard.
