The true story of Nat Turner, the educated slave and preacher who led a violent slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831. As a young slave boy in 1800s Southampton County, VA, Nathaniel "Nat" Turner was told by the Elders that he would be a prophet. Later, he learned to read and was encouraged to study the Holy Bible and preach to his fellow slaves. But when Nat’s master sends him on a preaching tour, Nat begins to see the full scope of slavery’s brutality and is moved by his religious conviction to become a different kind of leader.
